My name is Jae Michael Stromberg, and I am a narrative film director focused on story-driven work that prioritizes performance, visual intention, and audience experience. I aim to create films that invite viewers to actively engage with what they see and feel, rather than passively observe. I approach directing as both a technical and emotional discipline, where every decision shapes how a story is understood.
I am drawn to projects that explore complex emotional states, particularly those rooted in tension, uncertainty, and the search for clarity. Visually, I favor wider lenses, deep focus, and layered compositions where each part of the frame carries meaning. I use lighting, color contrast, and movement to guide attention within dense images while preserving a sense of discovery. My work leans toward naturalistic, textured lighting and a grounded tone, even when the material becomes more stylized.
I value collaboration with thoughtful, prepared creatives who bring their own perspective to the process. I come to each project with a clear plan while remaining open to adaptation and shared problem-solving. Mutual respect, strong communication, and a focused work ethic are central to how I build a team.
